What is unique about historic properties?

All of ALA's apartments are in beautifully maintained historic buildings dating from the 1870's to the 1950's. Historic apartments provide all the comfort and amenities of 21st century buildings with the added beauty and charm of the architecture and style of the time period.

Are laundry facilities available?

Most units either have on-site coin laundry or washer/dryer hookups.

Yes. Either off-street or on-street parking is available, depending on the property.

What are the average utility bills?

Utility bills vary by property, your usage, and weather conditions. For most properties, water is included in your rent.

Lease Terms

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not permitted inside any ALA apartment building.

Are pets allowed?

Pets under 70 pounds are allowed with approval and a one-time fee of $150 per pet (non-refundable).

Can I see the lease before applying?

Yes. Please visit the Applications & Forms page to view the lease.

How much is the security deposit?

The security deposit is equal to the cost of one month's rent. Receipt of the security deposit is required prior to moving in.

Applying to Rent

How do I apply to rent?

Each tenant must Download a Rental Application, fill it out, sign it, include a check for the required $35 application fee per tenant, and return it to Alan Jurkowski:

What is the application fee?

The application fee is $35 per tenant. This covers the cost of obtaining credit checks. A separate credit check is required for each tenant living in an ALA apartment.

How long does it take to hear back regarding my application?

Your application will be processed when all applications and application fees are received from you and your co-tenants. At that time, it usually takes less than 48 hours to receive the credit check and contact your references.

Applications are processed in first-come, first-serve order, so please return your application as soon as possible.

What are the next steps if my application is accepted?

Alan Jurkowski will contact you to inform you that your application has been accepted. He will then forward two copies of the lease to you. You will need to have all tenants sign the lease and return it along with a check for the security deposit. Signing the lease can either be handled remotely or by arranging a meeting with Alan.

Prior to move-in day, please contact all applicable utility companies to establish new service accounts. The local utility providers are:

On move-in day, please bring a check for the pro-rated cost of the first month's rent. You will receive keys, an orientation, and perform a walkthrough of the unit with Alan.
